Overview
Room Finishing builds the finishes in a Revit model as real geometry: floor finishes, wall finishes, ceilings and skirting, created from room boundaries in the model you have open.
You define what a finish is - which floor types, which wall base groups and the layers each one carries, which ceiling types, which skirting - then choose which rooms to apply it to and run it. Wall finishes are not limited to one layer: a base group can carry a stack of them, and each layer becomes its own wall, joined to the layer beneath it and to the base wall. The join can be a butt or a mitre, and finish faces can be locked to the base geometry so they follow it. With no base group set up, no wall finishes are built.
Floor finishes account for doorways. Door openings are cut out of the floor contour, and a setting decides which side of a doorway the threshold belongs to, so a run does not leave a finish that stops short of a door or runs straight through it.
Rooms are chosen four ways: every room in the project, the rooms visible in the active view, rooms you pick in the model, or rooms matched by parameter rules, where any one rule matching is enough. The rules are saved with the rest of the configuration. Only placed rooms with an area are picked up, in all four modes.
Runs are repeatable. Every element it creates is stamped with a recognisable comment, and by default the next run deletes the stamped ones before building replacements, so adjusting a finish standard and running again does not leave duplicates behind. That comment is the whole link: if someone edits or clears it, those elements are no longer recognised, and a re-run builds a second set alongside them.
Room parameter values can be carried onto the finish elements through a mapping you define - room to floor, room to wall, room to ceiling. The results are ordinary Revit elements, so schedules and take-offs can group finishes by the room data they came from.
Creation happens in a single pass, with Revit's warning dialogs absorbed rather than stopping a long run. If anything fails during that pass, everything it did is undone and the model is left as you found it. Joining, wall alignment locks and skirting locks run afterwards as separate steps; a failure there is silent, and the finishes are left created but not joined or locked.
Named configurations are kept on the machine, so several finish standards can sit side by side and be switched between.
It works on the document you have open - rooms in linked models are not read. Columns are finished through the room's wall boundaries rather than as a step of their own. Everything runs locally, with no network connection, and the interface is in English, Russian and German.
