Overview

Room Book measures the finishes in an architectural model and turns them into a room finish schedule.

It reads the rooms you have placed and works out which materials meet each one. Walls, floors and ceilings are reported as areas by material; skirting is reported as a running length. Ceiling height comes from the ceilings drawn above the room, and where a room has none the room's own height is used instead - that is the room's upper limit rather than a measured ceiling, so check those rooms. Finishes can be labelled by material name or by material description, whichever your library keys on.

Rooms are picked in a filterable table. Level, number, name and department are sortable columns with per-value filters and a free-text search, so a run can be held to one floor, one department, or a hand-picked set. Rooms with no area - unplaced or unbounded - never reach the table.

One selection drives three outputs, produced together or on their own:

An Excel workbook, one block per room with materials stacked and merged, grouped under a level heading, beneath a header band carrying your company name, logo, project name and project number.

Revit schedules, one per finish type, filtered and styled. Building them writes to the model: a numeric field is added to the Rooms category for each finish name, and every selected room gets its quantity written into it. An existing schedule of the same name is deleted and rebuilt without asking.

Lengths come out in metres, millimetres, centimetres, feet or inches; areas in square metres, square feet or square centimetres. The interface and the exported document both read in English, Russian, German or Azerbaijani.

Everything runs on your own machine. Nothing leaves the model except into the files you ask for, and the plugin makes no internet connection.

Two things to know before you lean on it. Ceiling and finish detection uses the last phase in the document and there is no phase picker, so a model whose intended phase is not last will report the wrong heights. And the Revit outputs are written as separate steps: if a late step fails, the schedules already built stay in the model rather than being undone.

It reads the open model only, not linked models, and it covers architectural finishes rather than ducts, pipes, cable tray or framing. A full bill of quantities is a different tool.
