Overview
The Hydraulic Calculation and Fire Pipe Sizing Tool brings NFPA- and EN-compliant fire protection engineering directly into the Revit workflow. It automatically extracts sprinkler, standpipe, pipe, fitting, elevation, and network data from the model, then builds and analyzes hydraulic systems including trees, loops, grids, wet, dry, preaction, and combined sprinkler/standpipe risers. Using methods such as Hazen–Williams or Darcy–Weisbach, the tool calculates flow demand, pressure losses, pipe velocities, hydraulic balance, residual pressure, hose allowances, and remote area density/area criteria to determine efficient and code-compliant pipe sizes. Results are written back into the model with pipe sizing, pressure heads, color-themed flow and pressure maps, tagged plan views, section details, Excel schedules, calculation sheets, and submission-ready PDF/DWG outputs for AHJ review. By reducing manual calculations, minimizing oversizing, improving accuracy, and ensuring consistency across the entire fire protection network, the tool helps MEP engineers deliver reliable, coordinated, and cost-efficient fire suppression designs while saving significant design time and project cost.
